Never was a job more exciting and challenging than working for the brilliant Pixar Matte artist, Paul Topolos. His home in Petaluma was built in 1908 of tightly grained old growth redwood, which is forbidden cut these days. It was truly a blessing to have the opportunity to transform this quaint house from the dirty 5-8 coat model seen here into a true masterpiece of 1/2 tone opal, copper, pearl and white paints and gel stains.

As a side note : This house was one of the reference houses used for the Pixar movie "UP"

The stripping was accomplished using Green's Semi Paste Paint and varnish remover and much elbow grease!

The entire job took about four months from June 1 until September 1, 2010.

The lighting changed to way the colors looked at different times of day. Special thanks to Chris and his daughter, Sasha, for all their help in wood working and repair. The Giants also won the World Series that year so it was fun

Walnut Gel Stain on the original redwood door. The posts were milled in 1908 on a lathe, without electricity, from one piece of wood!

Thanks again to Paul for this opportunity to make a landmark in such a fine historic and interesting city. The color choices were perfect, the casual atmosphere on the porch at night on the warm summer nights, and your generosity to me and my wife, Layne, will never be forgotten. God bless and CHEERS!
